  • Stop conflicts before they spiral out of control.

  • Notice and express your needs clearly (without guilt).

  • Listen so others feel heard (even in tough conversations).

What is Nonviolent Communication?

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a communication approach developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg. With a simple but powerful structure, it offers us a clear landscape of our inner world. We learn to distinguish feelings from thoughts, needs from strategies, and to express ourselves with greater honesty and clarity. At the same time, we practice listening with empathy — not only to others but also to ourselves.

NVC has been used successfully across the globe, from conflict regions to classrooms, from workplaces and teams to our most intimate relationships. It provides a practical framework for transforming judgment, criticism, and blame into understanding, connection, and choice. The foundation of Nonviolent Communication is empathy: the deep recognition that every action, however imperfect, arises from an attempt to meet human needs. By grounding ourselves in this awareness, we can foster cooperation, compassion, and more authentic relationships in every area of life.
